Loderstein 1.830 m
Beautiful peak in the Kitzbüheler Alps. A little insider tip.
The tour starts from the Kerschbaumer Saddle. There is a small parking area in a layby on the left side of the road.
From the Kerschbaumer Saddle (1,100 m), the trail climbs via a forest road (R 16 and 31) mainly through the woods to the Hechenblaikenalm (1,393 m) or Wildsauhütte. The route is well signed and hard to miss. Three paths lead from the hut – take the middle one. Walk uphill to the forest edge and take the path to the right. Careful, the path is not clearly visible! The fence leading up to a hut is a good orientation aid. Continue along the path climbing higher and higher over wooded terrain until you reach the point, where a trail from Bruck im Zillertal joins. Stay on the forest track leading uphill to a turnaraound point. Turn left and hike along the forest ridge. At the next fork in the trail, continue straight ahead and you will see a viewing plateau at Loderstein (1,830 m) - just the right place to take a rest and take in the fascinating mountain panorama.
Walking time: to the peak approx. 2 hours!
On the way back, turn left towards the Kohlgrubenalm (1,608 metres) and continue down to the Hechenblaikenalm. You will pass by the "Wildsauhütte", where you can stop for a bite to eat and something to drink. Walk back to the starting point, the Kerschbaumer Saddle.
