Sustainability Tourism

Alpbachtal green destination

Sustainability is a top priority in the tradition-steeped Alpbachtal. This starts with the arrival and continues with green events and local mobility to the regional product variety on site. As a pioneer for sustainable tourism, we are constantly implementing new measures and obtaining environmental certifications for our local businesses.

Certified businesses

Certified businesses & green locations

The fact that environmentally conscious tourism is not a contradiction in terms is evident at all levels in Alpbachtal. The green marketing concept of the Congress Centre Alpbach already clearly illustrates our ambitions to become a green destination. We rely on common ground: the Alpbachtal businesses are also committed to environmental protection. Culinary delights, thermal renovations and charging stations for e-bikes and the like are particularly important. 19 accommodation establishments have already been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel certificate - and the trend is rising!

Barrier-free holidays

The mountains are for everyone...

CleanUP Days - join us!

During the CleanUP Days, guests and locals volunteer to help realize the vision of an intact nature. They free alpine regions from paper, packaging, bottles and other garbage. Unfortunately, garbage is always left behind in forests, on mountains and on lakeshores. Volunteers with a passion for nature set out to clean the environment, thereby setting a valuable example for the preservation of natural areas. This is the idea behind CleanUP Days.

Regional Rroducts

Regionality that you can taste

The people of Alpbachtal appreciate local produce. Culinary products are particularly popular in this idyllic vacation region. The many local businesses and farms provide you with exquisite first-hand delicacies. The variety of Alpbachtal products includes savory specialties such as cheese, sausage and bacon as well as bread. Fruit, vegetables and preserves, beer and spirits can also be found in many different varieties.

Look forward to regional shopping pleasure and pick up your favourite products directly where they are produced! Numerous farm-gate and village shops as well as groceries avoid long transport routes by selling home-made products.

Our Alpbachtal tip:

Local products that meet our strict quality requirements are immediately recognizable by the “Alpbachtal Q” label. The Alpbachtal quality seal distinguishes products from regional producers and farmers who focus on seasonality, traditional craftsmanship and refinement in their production.

green events

Culture, sport & nature sustainably combined

Alpbachtal is particularly known for living its culture at festivals and celebrations. Because "environmentally friendly vacation" is one of our seven guidelines as a tourism region, we have made it our goal to hold all Alpbachtal Tourismus events as green events.

Our "green" event recommendation: Join the e-bike Gauditour! At this sustainable happening, you pedal ambitiously and explore the most beautiful natural and panoramic spots in Alpbachtal on an electronic bike. As a delicious bonus, you will be spoiled with delicacies from the region along the way.

Worthwhile partnerships for the climate

Nowadays, anyone who wants to act sustainably is motivated to make concrete changes. In this respect, new projects concerning environmental protection are constantly being advanced in the Alpbachtal - and in collaboration. Within the framework of the Climate and Energy Model Region, or "KEM" for short, synergies are formed between the municipality, the tourism association and the mountain railways. Through these partnerships, the topic of sustainability and resource-saving procedures are to be further prioritised.
