KulTour - Heilwasserweg (theme path - curative water) Kramsach
Easy hiking route following the trail of Kramsach's thermal waters. Water is a cultural asset! Explore the beautiful nature around the streams, fountains and lakes along the KulTOUR Heilwasser route in Kramsach.
The tour starts in Rattenberg(archway to the east of the town) and leads along the Inn River, Tyrols largest river. The route is also the Inn cycle path 2 (towards the east to the Danube and towards the west to the Inn River's source). Cross the bridge and follow the signs to the water fountain (Heil- und Thermalwasserbrunnen) in Kramsach/Weidach.
To the left, the path leads along the western shore of the Brandenberg Stream towards Kramsach village centre past the Kramsach Kneipp facilities, on towards the tennis courts and the former "Holztrift" (wood used to be transported down the river). Keep to the left of the stream , following a short uphill, pass the defunct Sonnwendjochbahn and continue along the main road (L4) towards Brandenberg/Aschau. At the second wooden bridge cross the river and continue towards the Mariathal Basilica. Follow the „Heilwasserweg“ signs through the woods behind the basilica. Cross the main road and take the panorama path towards the Pulverer farm – great views over the Kramsach Lake plateau (Frauen Lake, Lake Buch, Lake Krumm, Lake Reintal) and the Inn Valley await one here. The path leads past the idyllic Frauen Lake to the main road (L211) and on past a water wheel to Lake Krumm. Continue along the dirt track through the field passing by Lake Krumm and Lake Buch with its many waterlilies. Turn left at the next crossing and walk towards Lake Reintal. The looped lake trail leads around the lake.
Optionally, one can take a 10 minute walk from the camping sites to the Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses. A visit to the largest open-air museum in the Tyrol is always worthwhile (duration approx. 1 1/2 hours). After walking around the lake follow the path back to Lake Krumm/Buch at the fork walk towards the woods to Seebühel and the village centre - „Heilwasserweg“ signs. Keep to the Brandenberg streams left shore and walking past the Waidach chapel and the Heil- & Thermalwasserbrunnen (thermal water fountain) walk back to the starting point, Rattenberg.
Finish this beautiful bike tour in Rattenberg, Austria's smallest town with coffee and cake or with a tour of the town.
Note: total time incl. visits and stops: approx. 6 hours
