Sacred Heart Procession

The devotion to the Sacred Heart (also known as the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacratissimum Cor Iesu in Latin) is one of the most widely practised and well-known Catholic devotions, wherein the heart of Jesus is viewed as a symbol of "God's boundless and passionate love for mankind".

The Preface of the Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart of Jesus states:

"From his open side flow the blood and water, from his pierced heart spring the sacraments of the Church. The heart of the Saviour is open to all, that they may draw joyfully from the fountains of salvation."
