Harvest Festival at the Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses
Harvest Festival at the Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses
The "Kirchtag" is held annually, originally on the church foundation anniversary, which was generally also in honour of the patron saint. Later the festivities were held in the autumn to co-inside with Harvest Festival celebrations.
The day starts with a field Mass which many holiday guests as well as locals take part in. Displays of traditional handicraft such as pottery, wrought iron forging (blacksmith), basket weaving, feather quill stitching and more can be seen.
And of course culinary traditions are also upheld. At every farm, specialities from the respective Tyrolean region are prepared (i.e. Kasspatzln [Tyrolean pasta speciality with cheese], Kirchtagskrapfen [Tyrolean type of doughnut],...).
