Galerie Schmidt

Antiques and art exhibitions of various artists shown on a 380m² large floor space.

For many years, the Galerie Schmidt, located in Reith im Alpbachtal, has surprised visitors with exhibitions of internationally renowned stars from the art scene. Artists like Arnulf Rainer, Günter Brus, Hermann Nitsch, Oswald Oberhuber, Hubert Scheibl, Markus Lüpertz and many others have been galerie guests. The packaging artist Christo († 2020), who caused a sensation with his German Reichstag wrapping, also visited Alpbachtal. 

Every year in the second half of August the Galerie Schmidt organises an exhibition as a supporting programme for the European Forum Alpbach.

Gottfried Schmidt presents an average of ten exhibtions per year at his gallery. Thanks to his large network of contacts, he is able to bring international stars to the gallery in Reith. The one or the other artist comes to Reith im Alpbachtal to enjoy the magnificent scenery.
