Excursion tips in the region

Find an array of interesting handicraft spanning five centuries in the arcaded courtyard at the humorous graveless cemetery at the Sagzahn-Kunstschmiede (wrought iron blacksmith). Admire wrought iron grave crosses with amusing inscriptions and epitaphs (in German!), the world's most monumental death dance cycle, as well as the World Peace Cross and the World Peace Bells.

For over 40 years, the Tyrolean sculptor Alois Schild has been designing and producing large metal sculptures that are poetic fantasies on the border between sculpture, object, installation and architecture.

How did this particular building style materialize

A few hundred metres above the small church in Inneralpbach, on the edge of the forest, stands the "Vorder-Unterberg" farm. The farmstead was built between 1636 and 1638 and inhabited up to 1952.

The water-powered grain mill on the mittlerer Höhenweg leading from Alpbach to Inneralpbach was lovingly restored by the Club Alpbach for European Culture.

The church was first mentioned in 1369, a larger one was built in 1420 in honor of St. Oswald, a Northumbrian king.

Take a minute to visit the chapel and marvel at its beauty

Environmentally friendly, quiet and powerful, riders of all age groups can test their skills in the E-Trial Park Alpbachtal. The recently built 2.500 m² large course where motorcycle lovers can test their skills, is located next to the Galtenberg Family & Wellness Resort. With a little skill and practice, riders can easily negotiate the obstacles along the course.

Segway tours and E-Bike hire is also provided for at the park!

A little-known drawing by Egon Schiele opens up a special view of Rattenberg's historic rooftops to the viewer. A special monument to the Austrian painter has been erected on the Schlossberg.

Built in 1837 the quaint wooden chapel is well worth a visit when exploring the Kaiser Gorge and the Erzherzog-Johann-Klause.
